Position the welding gauge on the surface of the product, with the same orientation as shown by the illustration. Adjust the fillet arm 2 the until it makes contact with the surface of the object under test.

 Without changing the position of the welding gauge, adjust the linear member 3 and the top High-Lo arm 4 so that the taper gauge 5 also makes contact with the surface of the test object at the point of measurement as illustrated.
